From mixing tracks to exploring music careers, we bring high-energy learning straight to your TY programme.
Last week, NextUp Arts Collective visited St. Mary’s College, Dundalk to give students a hands-on look into the world of DJing and explore exciting career opportunities within the music industry. Our aim is simple: to give students a hands-on, high-energy introduction to DJing, music production, and live performance. The TY students at St. Mary’s showed amazing creativity and enthusiasm from the very first beat.
During the workshop, students:
Used professional DJ decks and software
Learned beatmatching, mixing, and song transitions
Explored effects, looping, and music structure
Created and performed their own mini DJ sets
We were blown away by how quickly they picked up the skills — many students, completely new to DJing, were confidently mixing tracks by the end of the day!
Beyond the decks, we also explored the role of DJs, career opportunities in music, and built creative confidence and problem-solving skills that go beyond music.
A huge thank you to St. Mary’s College Dundalk for the warm welcome. We’re proud to be part of TY students' journeys.
